Staph infections are on the rise! It seems a strain of the bacterium methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aurenus (MRSA) has spread from our local hospitals into our health clubs, and gyms.
The bacterial infections are being spread when people unknowingly share contaminated towels, and gym equipment.
So what are the symptoms of the health club spaph infections, and how do you prevent yourself from getting one?
If you notice an infection on your skin in the form of boils, or a localized painful rash, and it just doesn’t go away, you could have a spaph infection. It is said to be the leading cause of skin related visits to emergency rooms in the United States.
To prevent staph infections don’t share towels, wipe down gym equipment with alcohol spray, and cover equipment with a clean towel. If you notice a rash that doesn’t go away, get into see your doctor immediately to treat the infection. Good luck!
