Are you watching any of the Olympics? Wow! Let’s give a round of applause to the 38 year old female marathon winner, and also the 41 year old silver metal swimmer, Dana Torres. What can I say about Michael Phelps? Totally amazing! 

Do you know what each of these individuals had to go through in order to succeed? Is it years of hard training, or just great genes? Or both?

Congratulations to all Olympic athletes! Each and every one of them has given so much in order to reach the Olympics. My hat is off to all Olympians from every country.

Q - I am 27yrs weight 79kg want to loose weight in 2months at least 5kg per month, needed right plan for it.

A - Good goal! I am going to translate kg into pounds for our U.S. subscribers. Actually, I am also more confortable with pounds. Therfore, you are now 174 pounds, and want to lose 11 pounds a month for two staight months. Thus, your total fat loss will results in a final weight of 152 pounds.

Need A Shot Of Fitness Motivation?

Jim O'Connor Fitness ConsultantIsn’t it great when you get fired up, and in the proper frame of mind to accomplish anything. You are confident, definite, enthusiastic, and motivated. You are at your peak!

That is where I am right now! It is 11:43 am on Friday night, and I have to get up at 6:00 am , but I am still fired up. Why? Because I’m going to the Angels - Red Sox game tomorrow at the Big A of Anaheim. You probably already know that I enjoy sports. I look forward to watching good competition. That gets me into a postive, excited state of mind.

What about you? When challenges arise in your fitness and nutrition plan, do you stay fitness motivated? Don’t feel bad because most people don’t. The wheels simply come flying off. But, how do you keep fitness motivated, day in and day out? (The audio below will share this with you)

Back To Recording After the Independence Day Holiday

Jim O'ConnorI hope everyone in the states had a great 4th of July! If you are overseas I, also, hope you had a nice weekend. Whoever game up with the name “4th of July?” Why don’t we just call the day Independence Day. It is sad to say some Americans have no idea what Independence Day is all about. Some just think it is a day off from work to eat, drink, and watch fireworks.

Anyway, my family had a nice day. Yes, I worked in the morning. When don’t I work? Then we watched a parade, barbarqued, and witnessed the fireworks. Pretty typical, except for work.

 Lately, I have been recording HOURS of audio for my new personal training business product. Therefore, I haven’t had much time to do video. However, I will surprise you, and put a video together soon.

Back From The 110 Degree Las Vegas R & R

Jim O'ConnorAfter cranking hard for 6 months straight my wife, Rachel, and I (no 20 month Kylie) decided to jump in the car and head for Vegas. As I was driving I was wondering what happened to the $1.89 gas? Those days are long gone, probably in our lifetime. However, when on a little mini-vacation you really don’t want to worry about gas prices. Therefore, we didn’t. However, I did notice Nevada was 40 cents cheaper than Los Angeles. It figures!

Overall, Vegas was steaming hot at 110 degrees. Thank goodness for Hoover Dam being able to keep Vegas cool. Can you image if the whole city lost power. Yikes!

We had a fantastic time getting away for our 3rd wedding anniversary!

Hey, I even worked out every morning. I guess I had to after consuming thousands of calories. Food is everywhere!

What’s New At Wellness Word?

Jim O'ConnorI would like to welcome you to the all new Wellness Word “Interactive” Newsletter! As stated in the previous edition of Wellness Word, we have decided to create a community based interactive format for Wellness Word. Along with giving the subscriber base the power to talk back, with your suggestions, we have also decided to make the newsletter shorter, and publish is weekly, instead of bi-weekly.

Each edition will feature either a video, or audio that we encourage you to comment on, and share your personal experiences. The days are long gone of me presenting material without letting you “sound off.”

Wellness Word Newsletter is now a community of like minded individuals sharing knowledge, and experiences. We at Wellness Word would like to get to know as many of our world wide subscribers as possible.

Together, we can all shatter our health, fitness, and bodybuilding goals!

Follow Me On Twitter, And I Will Follow You Too

Have you heard of the new FREE service taking the internet by storm? This free service is called TWITTER. In an attempt to get to know my subscribers I have joined TWITTER. By using TWITTER I can share my daily personal thoughts, fitness tips, and whatever comes to my mind. You can too! Therefore, I can read your thoughts, just as you can read mine.

Twitter is like a mini-blog. It is real cool! You can even text message your thoughts that you wish to share with your selected friends. On Twitter, you build a network of friends who can keep up-to-date on what you are doing. An example would be a post by me such as… I’m just finishing up a glass of Chateau Montelena before I put my 20 month old daughter to bed. All my friends, including you, will get my personal update. If I follow you, I will get your update. I feel this is a great FREE TOOL I can use to keep all my Wellness Word friends informed, and also enable me to find out more out them.

Wellness Word Fitness Question Of The Week

Q - My 14 year old son is petite; just 5 feet and 89 pounds (maybe).  Are there safe protein drinks for his age group that may help him to put some bulk on?  His sport is baseball and on 3 teams right now and always playing basketball in our driveway so he is very active.  Do you have any suggestions?

A - It seems like your son is very active. That is good. However, it appears he is challenged by a fast metabolism, and high activity level. Since he is only 14, I wouldn’t rely on protein drinks to gain weight, but food. Your son needs to eat a balanced diet of all the basic food groups. I would make sure he gets a snack or two each day, preferably after his physical activity.

Ask him what type of foods he likes, and encourage him to not miss meals, and snacks. Increase his calories through food. There is no magic in protein drinks.
