If you happened to ask ten random people what is the best way to get into shape, and lose ten pounds you will probably get ten different answers. The problem is people, including some personal fitness trainers, are stating opinions not backed by science.
It goes something like this. You start talking to one of your colleagues at the gym, and they begin offering free fitness tips to help you lose fat and build muscle. They tell you a big gym secret of doing 30 reps at low weight to build lots of metabolically active muscle. Little do you realize that they heard this from some other gym goer last month who claimed this is the big gym secret. The bottom line is fitness tips seem to fly too freely, and hard working people are simply destroying their fitness program results by listening to these unscientific exercise, and nutrition claims.
