An effective fitness programs must place an emphasis on sound nutrition practices. Without good nutrition habits your fitness results will be definitely hindered. Just think of nutrition as a catalyst to ignite workout results.

Over the years I have seen too many individuals health and fitness goals not in alignment with their fitness program. If you are an individual who has the goal of losing fat, and you are not paying attention to what you are putting into your mouth, you are simply sabatoging your fitness results. Focusing on your exercise consistency is just not enough to reach your main goal of weight loss. Your fitness program is simply out of alignment with your goals.

There are many people who are exercise warriors, but when it comes to eating, they are wolves. They eat whatever they can find, and as much as they can take in. Then they wonder why they are not losing weight. Exercise must be backed by a decrease in caloric intake in order for a fat loss goal to be reached.

Let’s face it, how many hours a day can you, or do you want to exercise?

In order to lose 1 pound of fat you must burn off 500 calories a day less than your body needs for 7 straight days. Assuming your caloric intake is the same, you can simply burn off 500 calories a day to lose one pound of fat each week. How long will that take you? If you walk, probably in the neighborhood of 3 hours of walking each and every day. If you run, maybe 1 1/2 hours everyday. How much time do you have to exercise? How much time do you really want to exercise? If you want to exercise 20 hours a week, then keep your diet the same. However, this is not extremely practical, and efficient.

Therefore, I recommend you decreasing your calories in addition to burning calories by exercising. If you decrease the amount of food you consume by 300 calories each day, and burn off 200 calories each day through exercise, then you have an effective and efficient exercise program. Your goal of fat loss will be in alignment with your fitness program.

Now take a look at your health fitness program. Are your goals in alignment with your training regimen? If not, start making small modifications, and watch your fitness results soar.
