The Center For Disease Control reports only an estimated 31.9% of adults, 18 and over in the United States, participate in regular leisure time physical fitness exercise. With all the scientific research to back the benefits of physical fitness, why are people not taking a greater personal responsibility?
When it comes to your health, fitness, well-being, and quality of life, now is the time to take some personal respsonsibility for the one body you have been blessed with.
One major piece of scientific proof was revealed in the Aerobics Center Longitudinal Study (ACLS) which tracked 80,000 people, and began in 1970.
A follow up to that study showed lack of physical fitness exercise accounted for about 16% of all deaths. It was even greater when accounting for high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, and smoking.
It was noted that physically fit men lived on average 6 years longer than unfit men. Physically fit women, from the study, showed to have less than 55% less chance of dying from breast cancer.
I could go on all day as to why you should incorporate physcial fitness exercise into your life. The bottom line is lack of physical fitness is detrimental to your health, and longevity.
Therefore, I go back to the term personal responsiblity. We must all, as a nation, go through a paradiam shift to incorporate physical activity into our lives. Being active should be like brushing your teeth. It is something that just must be done.
You really are worth it, aren’t you? I encourage you, today, to do something good for youself physically. Go take a walk. Jump on a bike. Go pump some iron in the gym. Get moving! You are worth it. Right?
Each, and every day when you awaken, think about having personal responsiblity toward your health, and well-begin. Get the physical fitness exercise you deserve today.
