What Is Your Real Age?

As a matter of fact, the person who spoke, Dr. Michael Roizen, is responsible for selling 2.5 million copies of his book called YOU - The Owner’s Manual. YOU was the #2 best selling book in the world in 2005, just behind Harry Potter.
Since I had the privledge of hearing Dr. Roizen speak a couple of days ago, I would like to share the highlights with you, hoping you will benefit as much as I did.
You - The Owner’s Manual is about taking responsibility for your own health by focusing on proven preventative measure in order to protect your bodily functions from aging. His concepts are truly what is needed in the world today. Dr. Roizen is so right when he says doctors are very very good at diagnosing, and treating disease, but lousy at preventing it. It is all about fix, fix, fix, and not much mention of preventing the problem.
According to Dr. Roizen, our body functions roughly decline 5% every 10 years. This is simply called the aging process. However, what if we could do things that slowed down, or even halted this decline. You can! The big question he asked the group is how old would you like to feel? This is exactly the concept he promotes on his website. First off, you need to determine, according to studies, how old you really are. This is not your chronological age, but your real health age, which is determined by one person, and one person only - YOU… Go ahead and take his little quiz at Real Age to find out what age you really are. You might be surprised.
During Dr. Roizen’s presentation, his main goal was to provide an emotional link between the information he presented and the visitor. He did so by showing a live example of two extracted Aorta’s, one from an 89 year old who was killed in a car crash, and another from a 44 year old who died of heart disease. Wow! we could actually look at two aorta’s. This is what I mean by making an emotional connection which propels you into life changing action. He also showed a movie of what happens when a person eats too much saturated fat. He actually showed a heart attack in the works.
Below are a few tips he shared….(please verify each of these with your own personal physician)
1. Your body can re-program itself every 3 years in order to reverse the effects of previous damage.
2. Limit Trans and Saturated Fats to 20 g per day max.
3. Eat plenty of the good fats such as olive oil, fish oils, avacado, etc. to increase your HDL cholesterol
4. Stress is the #1 greatest ager of all!
5. Walnuts are the best “good fats” nut
6. It is never too late to start preventing (remember the every 3 years rule)
7. There are 141 things YOU can do to decrease you real age.
8. His take home actions included walking, aspirin, strength training, tomato sauce, walnuts, and taking specific vitamins and supplement.
